Seeing stars
At Nordhuset we love stars – on clothes, on scarves, on pottery, coasters, jewellery… on our walls – everywhere!
Even in our logo we have incorporated a stylised motif of the North Star, so even before you walk through our shop doors, you’ll be seeing stars.
Stars, since ancient times have been symbols of hope, destiny, future, heaven, and freedom.
And, stars have helped us navigate across the world. The North Star, known as Polaris, is one of life’s constants. It’s more constant than a magnetic compass and has been a part of navigation and way-finding for thousands of years. The ancient Minoans, who lived on the Mediterranean island of Crete from 3000 to 1100 BCE, left records of using the stars to navigate.
But, for many… stars are good for the soul; looking up on a clear night and drinking in all that… space, you might find yourself uplifted.
Any way, stars are important to us in everyday life… we describe people of importance as ‘stars’, people who excel as ‘superstars’. We like to believe that shooting stars can make our wishes come true. Poets, artists and songwriters often incorporate them into their work.
